For the walkers there is the Beara Way Walking route, for the cyclists there is the Beara Cycle Way. Both cover 183 kms of the magnificent rugged coastline that makes this part of Ireland a favourite amongst tourists. Ferries run daily to Bere Island which is a stunning island steeped in military history located just 20 minutes off the mainland. West Cork is a well known paradise for good food lovers and there is no end of organic and artisan foods available in the area. Taste in Castletownbere is a must for discerning food shoppers.
